Our Purpose: Cure Paralysis
Historically, if you injured your spinal cord, chances of survival were low. If you did survive, your lifespan and quality of life were quite limited. Medical and technological advances have greatly increased the odds of surviving a SCI (Spinal Cord Injury). Since the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act), the quality of life for someone with a SCI has improved. Now, you can be out in the world. You can travel, you can play sports, you can work on a computer, talk on a phone. Now, someone with a SCI can not only survive, but can truly live. But, can you heal? Can the damage be reversed? The answer is yes, you can heal! The spinal cord can heal. Studies are starting to show that humans can heal and gain function after a SCI with the use of your own stem cells, with internal and external electronic devices, and with a lot of hard work and a team of people and millions of dollars, this can happen. This is happening. Within our lifetime, this will happen. So, how? We use what we can to create change. We can inspire through art, and bring people together through wine and shared experiences, to raise money, to raise awareness to close the gap on this and cure SCI, and reverse the effects of SCI.
